Paul Henry becomes Welsh Academy Fellow

Seren  is proud to announce that the poet Paul Henry has been made a Fellow of The Welsh Academy, the Society for Writers in Wales. Wales Portrait Exhibition on the Move!

Lorraine Bewsey´s Poet Portraits exhibition continues at Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw until April 20. Meanwhile, the Wales Portrait Award exhibition - which includes Lorraine´s portrait of Amy Wack, Kevin Brennan and their daughter Siobhan - leaves the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, Birkenhead, on 13 April 2008, and moves to the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth from 19 April 31 May. Robert Minhinnick on the RSL Ondaatje shortlist

Award-winning poet Robert Minhinnick unfortunately missed out on the winning prize at the ceremony for the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize, as announced on Monday 28th April. His debut novel Sea Holly was nominated for this extremely prestigious prize worth £10,000 that marks a distinguished work of fiction which evokes the spirit of a place.  
 
Robert has previously won the Wales Book of the Year Award for his collection of essays To Babel and Back, and also won the Forward Prize twice for his poetry.

Robert Minhinnick receives Creative Wales Award

Many congratulations to Robert Minhinnick, who has been awarded a £20,000 bursary from Creative Wales to write a collection of essays that share the theme of the movement of people accross the planet.

This news comes as Robert´s final issue as editor of Poetry Wales is published in April, and after the publication of his first novel Sea Holly. Robert has also won the Forward Prize twice for ´Best Individual Poem´, and won the Wales Book of the Year Award in 2007 for his collection of essays To Babel and Back.

Torchwood Novel by David Llewellyn

Torchwood Novel by David Llewellyn

David Llewellyn, author of Eleven, has written a novel for the BBC TV series Torchwood, published by BBC Books on March 6th.

Speaking about the novel, David said ´I´ve been a fan of Doctor Who since I was a kid so I was over the moon to be asked to write a novel for Torchwood. Besides which, I don´t know many men who would turn down the opportunity to write about car chases and aliens´.
